HP Details Support for Microsoft's Surface Enterprise Initiative

Earlier today, Microsoft and Dell both made announcements about Dell entering into a partnership to sell and support Microsoft's Surface Pro tablet line. And, while the announcement was heavier toward Dell, HP was noted as part of the new commercial market initiative but it wasn't clear in what way. However, HP has now helped clear up the matter with Mike Nash taking to the HP blogs to describe how HP is participating.

HP is following suit and will be both selling the Surface Pro tablet and also supporting it. Dell's statement earlier today left it unclear which version of the Surface would be available as part of the program. HP, on the other hand, makes it clear that the program is for the Surface Pro 3 and it will be sold through the HP direct sales force.

Additionally, the company says that…

Independently, we will also be offering a new set of HP Care Packs designed specifically to help customers to plan, configure, deploy and manage in enterprise environments. We also plan to offer some mobility workflow transformation tools and services that will be available next year.

As with Dell, this doesn't mean that HP will stop producing and selling its own line of Windows 2-in-1 devices – which I'm sure is a sigh of relief for HP Spectre x360 owners. The Spectre is one of the best devices in its class.

As to when HP's involvement might begin, Nash didn't make a statement. Dell promised to kick off its commitment in early October.
