Getting Started with PowerBI on Mobile Devices

If you have started using PowerBI in your organization to analyze your companies critical business data or thinking about it then knowing the resources that are available to you for the service can help with the decision making process.

There is a full featured Power BI Desktop application that lets you create reports about the data you monitor but did you know there are also mobile apps for Windows, Android and iOS that give you the same capabilities when you are on the go?

All of those apps can also be managed using Microsoft Intune to control app and data security.

Microsoft has recently published a series of white papers that will help you learn more about the apps and their management with Microsoft Intune and they are available at the Microsoft Download Center in Word .docx format documents.

Configuring Power BI mobile apps with Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune enables organizations to manage devices and applications. The Power BI mobile applications for Windows 10 Mobile, iOS and Android integrate with Intune to allow you to manage the application on your devices while controlling security. Through configuration policies, you can control items like requiring an access PIN, how data is handled by the application and even encrypting application data when the app is not in use.

Getting started with the Power BI mobile app for Windows 10

The Windows 10 mobile app for Microsoft Power BI brings Power BI to your tablet or phone, with up-to-date, touch-enabled mobile access to your business information. View and interact with your company dashboards from anywhere — right on your Windows Start screen.

The Android app for Microsoft Power BI brings Power BI to your pocket, with up-to-date, touch-enabled mobile access to your business information. View and interact with your company dashboards from anywhere.

Getting started with the Power BI for iOS app

The iPhone app for Microsoft Power BI for iOS is part of the mobile BI experience for Power BI and Reporting Services. With live, touch-enabled mobile access to your important business information on premises and in the cloud, you can view and interact with your company dashboards easily, from anywhere. Explore the data in dashboards, and share them with your colleagues in email or text messages.

I served for 29 plus years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer in November 2011. My work background in the Navy was telecommunications related so my hobby of computers fit well with what I did for the Navy. I consider myself a tech geek and enjoy most things in that arena.

My first website – AnotherWin95.com – came online in 1995. Back then I used GeoCities Web Hosting for it and WindowsObserver.com is the result of the work I have done on that site since 1995.

In January 2010 my community contributions were recognized by Microsoft when I received my first Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for the Windows Operating System. Since then I have been renewed as a Microsoft MVP each subsequent year since that initial award. I am also a member of the inaugural group of Windows Insider MVPs which began in 2016.

I previously hosted the Observed Tech PODCAST for 10 years and 317 episodes and now host a new podcast called Faith, Tech, and Space.

I began contributing to Penton Technology websites in January 2015 and in April 2017 I was hired as the Senior Content Producer for Penton Technology which is now Informa Tech. In that role, I contribute to ITPro Today and cover operating systems, enterprise technology, and productivity.
