Get 1 year of Office 365 Personal with your Lumia 950 or 950 XL

If you are the owner of a Microsoft Lumia 950 or 950 XL there is a great offer at the moment that can get you a one year subscription to Office 365 Personal at no cost compared to its normal $69.99 price tag.

If you are already a subscriber like me then this offer will extend your current subscription by 12 months.

An Office 365 Personal subscription allows you to install the latest version of Microsoft Office on 1 PC or Mac, 1 tablet including iPad, Android, or Windows, plus 1 phone. It includes full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote. In addition you get a boost to 1TB of cloud storage on OneDrive.

In order to claim this deal you must install the Lumia Offers app on your 950 or 950 XL and subsequently open the app to see the offer.

Once installed and opened you will see a couple of confirmation screens - be sure it reflects your current Microsoft Account and it is the one in use if you have a current Office 365 Personal subscription because this is which account will be offered the free subscription.

The main page of the app will show the offer:

Just tap on that to get the full details. Your email address will appear in the text box near the bottom.

After accepting the offer you will get a confirmation screen and receive an email with the redemption details. I had mine almost instantaneously.

The link in the email will take you to the Microsoft Store online where you will redeem the offer and get one year of Office 365 Personal for free.

You can verify your new subscription, or updated expiration date for current subscribers, by visiting https://account.microsoft.com.

A couple of things I noticed while going through this redemption process:

- You will need to provide a credit card or other payment method like PayPal when redeeming this because the subscription will be set for auto-renewal. Of course you can cancel the subscription prior to that happening.

- In the checkout process there was a statement that indicated this may be a limited offer but there was no indication of how many or when it would expire. My suggestion is that you go ahead and redeem it now to make sure you do not lose out on the deal.

Here are more details of the offer from Microsoft.

Thanks to Johan for the tip!

But, wait...there's probably more so be sure to follow me on Twitter and Google+.
