Enable Windows 8.1 Boot to Desktop

Q: How do I enable boot to desktop in Windows 8.1?

A: Windows 8.1 allows a machine to boot directly to the desktop instead of the Start Screen after logon. To make the change, perform the following:

  1. Right-click the Task Bar and select Properties.

  2. Select the Navigation tab.

  3. Under the Start Screen area, select Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in.

  4. Click OK.
