Different Server Maintenance Windows in Server Collections

Q: I defined multiple server collections in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager containing servers with different maintenance windows--which maintenance window takes effect?

A: If one server is part of multiple collections, with each collection having different maintenance windows, then the maintenance windows are essentially combined. Here are additional conditions to be aware of:

  • If the maintenance windows don't overlap, they're treated as two separate maintenance windows.

  • If the maintenance windows do overlap, they're treated as a single maintenance window encompassing the time period covered by both maintenance windows.
