Compaq and EMC have announced plans to share their APIs with each other. The APIs, which enable software to operate storage systems, will help each company write management products that support the other's products. This move follows EMC's open-storage-management announcements late last month.
"This exchange is a major step towards meeting customer requirements for open integration in multi-vendor storage environments. This agreement gives both companies the capability to help mutual customers better manage their information," said Don Swatik, vice president of alliances and information sciences at EMC.
