CollabNet Intros Agile Project Management in the Cloud
Software developer’s ScrumWorks Pro project management tool now hosted on Codesion for Agile developers seeking cloud-based access
November 17, 2011
Project management software developer CollabNet has introduced a cloud-based version of its ScrumWorks Pro project management tool for Agile developers. The platform is now hosted on the Codesion cloud development platform, which CollabNet acquired in 2010.
Putting ScrumWorks Pro on the cloud allows Agile developers to code, connect and deploy software on an enterprise-grade platform and access a fully integrated, cloud-based Agile development platform that spans Agile project management, source code management and deployment, according to CollabNet. A 30-day trial for developers is available here.
CollabNet made the move to the cloud based on the demands of Agile developers—a group that CollabNet believes will continue to expand and grow.
“The Agile development methodology is really maturing and reaching much deeper into the enterprise,” said Guy Marion, vice president for CollabNet cloud services. “Development organizations are moving beyond traditional Agile project management SaaS offerings and looking to gain the speed, cost and productivity gains that cloud computing offers. Having ScrumWorks Pro offered within a flexible, hosted cloud environment, tightly coupled with leading source code and deployment ALM tools, further extends the benefits of Agile methods for rapid development and delivery of software.”
The introduction of ScrumWorks Pro in the cloud is the culmination of much strategic planning on the part of CollabNet, including the acquisition of Codesion and the acquisition of Danube Technologies, said David Parker, vice president of the Scrum business line for CollabNet. “It’s not just a one-off—this is something we’ve been working toward for quite a while,” he said.
“One of the things that separates ScrumWorks Pro from the competition is its elegant simplicity,” Parker said. “It’s easy to use, deploy and administer, which makes it much more palatable for large enterprises.”
The Codesion cloud platform has been adopted by more than 1,500 customers in the past 12 months, according to CollabNet, and allows developers to tap into a broad array of hosted open source and commercial tools—including Apache Subversion, Git, Trac, Bugzilla, CollabNet’s Agile ALM platform TeamForge, and other leading Agile project management tools. More than 100,000 developers already are using ScrumWorks Pro in on-premise installations, the company said.
