Amazon Adds to the Kindle Reader Line-up with a New Affordable

Amazon does a lot of things right. Not everything, mind you, but I’ve been a happy Amazon retail and Prime customer for as long as I can remember. Another thing the company does well, is provide excellent eReaders. I’ve always been a fan of the Kindle line of eReaders. I’ve strayed over the years to try out new offerings, but have always found Amazon’s device back in my hands after a short jaunt.

The company recently announced a new, more innovative design that boasts months of battery use through an included charging cover. The Oasis is an expensive acquisition, but for avid readers who are horrible at remembering to charge their devices, it’s a worthy buy.

However, for most of the rest of us who like to ensure our pockets are padded with just enough green, Amazon has announced a more affordable version of its next generation eReader.

Amazon touts it having the following highlighted features:

  • Thin and light design lets you easily take your full library with you on-the-go

  • Export your notes and highlights—easily print them for your book club, and more

  • First Kindle with built-in Bluetooth audio support for better accessibility—visually impaired users can now use the VoiceView screen reader to read a book without an adaptor

That last bullet point makes me exceptionally excited. I’m not visually impaired (though my wife might argue that I can’t ever find anything), but I do like to have books read to me. So, this new Kindle could essentially pair Audible with Kindle.

The new Kindle is available for pre-order for $79.99 (with special offers):  All-New Kindle E-reader - Black, 6" Glare-Free Touchscreen Display, Wi-Fi - Includes Special Offers

The devices are expected to start shipping on July 7, 2016.
