The solution links two SAP solutions—the SAP ERP application and the SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse offering—to a managed private cloud infrastructure. SAP’s ERP solution has capabilities for finance, human capital management, sales, procurement and other key enterprise function. NetWeaver BW allows users to integrate data from across the enterprise and transform it into information to drive sound decision making.
The approach is based around a combination of hardware and software created and delivered through a collaboration between Accenture, Cisco, NetApp, VMware, Red Hat and RealTech. The solution's architecture—known as FlexPod—is comprised of Cisco's Unified Computing System and NetApp storage.
In an article in PCWorld, Eric Renouard, global technology lead for Accenture's SAP practice, discussed the three specific configurations aimed at medium, large or "extra-large" deployments.
According to Accenture, the solution will initially focus on customers with mature SAP systems that are looking to improve performance, reduce costs and expand their SAP technology footprint. Components of the approach include system immigration, application and infrastructure management, analytics, mobility and enterprise migration.
“If [the customer] fits within the sizings, it’s totally turnkey. Our objective in building this is to make it as transparent as possible to the user.” The configurations can be tweaked as needed, however, he said. Pricing “varies by geography, but we are not talking tens of millions,” Renouard said. Customers have the option of a fixed-price deployment but “that dictates you have to pretty much fit square in line with what we've designed,” he said.
Accenture’s private cloud solution was unveiled at the company’s Sapphire Now and SAP TechEd conferences in Madrid.
