Amazon Video Direct Launches to Take on YouTube

Helping content creators and visual storytellers reach millions of Amazon customers across hundreds of devices with the same distribution options and delivery quality available to major motion picture and television studios.

That’s how Amazon is positioning it’s just released new service called Amazon Video Direct. Essentially, anyone with a free account (it’s not tied to a normal Amazon.com customer account) can upload, monetize, and monitor performance of video.

Monetization opportunities are configurable, allowing participants to earn royalties based on hours streamed by Prime members, a revenue share for rentals, purchases, monthly subscriptions, or ad impressions—or any combination of these options.
