When you restart your server after removing the subject software, you receive:

Stop 0x0000007B (0xf681f848, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x000000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

This problem occurs because the uninstall does NOT properly remove the AFAMGT.sys filter driver from the registry.

To resolve this problem, you will need a parallel installation of Windows 2000.

To edit the original registry:

01. Boot the parallel install of Windows 2000.

02. Using Off-line Registry editing, using Regedt32.exe to select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive and press Load Hive on the Registry menu.

03. Navigate to C:WinntSystem32ConfigSystem, where C:Winnt is the original Windows folder, and press Open.

04. Type OldSystem in the Name box and press OK.

05. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEOldSystemControlSet001ServicesPerc2.

06. Set the Start Value Name's data value to 0.

07. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEOldSystemControlSet001ServicesPerchib.

08. Set the Start Value Name's data value to 0.

09. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEOldSystemControlSet001ControlClass\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002 BE10318}.

10. Double-click the UpperFilters Value Name, a REG_MULTI_SZ data type, and remove the AFAMGT line in the Multi-String Editor.

11. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEOldSystemControlSet001ServicesAFAMGT.

12. Double click the Start Value Name and set the data value to 4 (Disabled).

13. Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEOldSystem key and press Unload Hive on the Registry menu.

14. Press Yes to confirm.

15. Exit Regedt32.exe.

16. Start / Settings / Control Panel / System.

17. Select the Advanced tab.

18. Press the Startup and Recovery button.

19. Toggle the Default operating system drop-down box to your original install.

20. If desired, alter the number of seconds the list of operating systems is displayed on the boot menu.

21. Press OK and OK.

22. Open a CMD.EXE prompt.

23. Type Attrib -r -s -h c:boot.ini and press Enter.

24. Open C:boot.ini in NOTEPAD and remove the line for the parallel installation.

25. Save the change and Exit NOTEPAD.

26. At the CMD prompt, type Attrib +r +s +h c:boot.ini and press Enter.

27. Exit the CMD prompt.
