Upgrade a Surface Pro Device to Windows 8 Enterprise?

Q: Will I be able to upgrade a Surface Pro device to Windows 8 Enterprise edition?

A: Surface Pro comes preinstalled with Windows 8 Pro. Essentially the Surface Pro is an x86-based computer, which means it can also run Windows 8 Enterprise edition. It's not possible to perform an in-place upgrade from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8 Enterprise edition; however, it would be possible to perform a fresh installation of Windows 8 Enterprise edition on a Surface Pro device, and if required, maintain user data and state using tools such as User State Migration Toolkit (USMT).
