Q: I have an updated set of ADMX files on my machine, but I don't see the new settings when I edit Group Policy. Why not?

A: When new policies are installed on a machine, they're placed in %windir%PolicyDefinitions. However, this location isn't used if you have a Central Store, which is stored on SYSVOL on the domain controller. When you have new policy templates, it's important that you copy them to the Central Store on SYSVOL so they're utilized when editing policies. For example, copy new templates from your local %windir%PolicyDefinitions to \sysvolPoliciesPolicyDefinitions.
