So much for all the talk about 1997 being the year of the Pentium Pro:Intel quietly acknowledged today that it will push Pentium technology beyond the self-imposed 200 Mhz limit by introducing a 233 Mhz Pentium with MMX capabilities. The new CPU is due in June. A low-power notebook version of the CPU will arrive early next year.In an unrelated move, Intel will announce modest price cuts for theirexisting CPUs next week. The high-end chips won't be affected too muchbut 100, 120, and 133 Mhz Pentiums will become much more affordable
