Interim Apple CEO Steve Jobs presented a keynote address at Seybold Thursday, and asked publishers--a key, but failing market for Apple--tosimply trust him for a few months while he turned Apple around.

"In a way, you guys are our board of directors," Jobs told the audience.

"We're going to be kicking ass, [so] trust me for a few months."Jobs told of his plans to streamline Apple's product line while focusing onkey markets. He has formed a team to focus on design and publishing as well.

During his keynote, Jobs paraded industry supporters who voiced their love of Apple and its leader. Having the leaders of Adobe, Macromedia, and Quark share the spotlight made for an interesting comparison to Bill Gates' solo address from the day before. Gates' Windows-oriented keynote had included subtle jabs at Apple and its users
