Session Shadowing in Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS

Q: I understand in Windows Server 2012 R2 the ability to shadow a session is built-in for Remote Desktop Services--how do I use this?

A: Here's how to use Remote Desktop Services (RDS):

  1. Launch Server Manager.

  2. Navigate to Remote Desktop Services, Collections, .

  3. In the details, right-click the session under Connections, and select Shadow.

  4. Select whether the shadow should be View or Control and also if the user needs to give permission (this is controlled via Group Policy), and click OK.

  5. After the user approves, the content will be shown in a separate window that can be resized.
