Dr. Solomon's Software announced yesterday their first Office 97 virus detector, bundled in its February Anti-Virus Toolkit. Office 97 lacked third-party virus protection when it was released last month because Microsoft failed to provide anti-virus vendors with a Sofware Developers Kit (SDK). Office 97 is particularly vulnerable to macro virus attacks since the suite uses a new file format that is incompatible with previous versions of Office. The software will be available February 20.

Reportedly, Symantec has released Office 97 macro virus protection as well, but I could find no mention of it on their Web page
