Thanks to Michael Tsang Kwong Yiu for the tip: Microsoft has released theU.S. English version of the Office 97 Service Release 1 SR-1). The Office97 SR-1 makes it easier to manage issues with sharing files betweendifferent versions of Office, which some large organizations haveexperienced with Office 97. In particular, Office 97 SR-1 includes the Word6.0/95 Binary Converter for Word 97. This converter enables Word 97 usersto save files in the Word 6.0/95 native file format. In addition, SR-1 alsoincludes enhanced support for POP3 and SMTP Internet e-mail in Outlook 97,the new Microsoft Access Snapshot, support for Intel's MMX technology,various new viewers, converters and other minor enhancements and updates.

International versions of Office 97 Service Release 1 will be availablebeginning this fall. The U.S. English SR-1 download for Windows 95, WindowsNT 3.51 with Service Pack 5 or later, or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 2or later, is available from the Microsoft Web site
