Introducing Xbox Music Field Guide
It's new. And stuff
March 28, 2014
With the first edition of Windows 8.1 Field Guide wrapping up this weekend, I hope, I've begun thinking about the other books in this series. So while I'll be starting work soon on Outlook.com Field Guide, I'll also be updating my previous e-books to match the new series name. First up is Xbox Music Field Guide, which will remain available for free.
Xbox Music Field Guide was previously known as Paul Thurrott's Xbox Music 2.0, as it is the second edition of a free e-book I wrote last year. It's still in progress, and only partially complete, but as I've noted previously, I'm using the structure of this book as a guide to how future cross-platform titles (Outlook.com Field Guide for example) might look. I think it's going to work.
More to the point, I'm happy and excited to show off the new cover design, which was again created by the inimitable Martin McClean, Microsoft's "poster guy" and the author of the Posterpedia app for Windows 8. As you can see, it's awesome.
More to the point, it features the same basic design as the cover for Windows 8.1 Field Guide. So when you see them side-by-side, it all starts to come together.
When Xbox Music Field Guide is complete, I'll be publishing it to Kindle and other e-book stores. I don't believe that version can be free—but if it can be, it will be—but I'll always provide it in PDF, MOBI and ePub versions for free regardless.

Here's an updated version of the main book document. I believe this only has a few additional content sections since the last update, but I've also updated the front matter to match what we've got in Windows 8.1 Field Guide. This fifth incomplete and pre-release peek at Xbox Music Field Guide is available in PDF, MOBI (Kindle) and ePub (NOOK) formats.
Xbox Music Field Guide (pre-release 0.5) (PDF)
Xbox Music Field Guide (pre-release 0.5) (MOBI)
Xbox Music Field Guide (pre-release 0.5) (EPUB)
More soon.
