Q. How can I change the darkness of the shadows on the Windows 7 logon screen?

A. It's simple to change the logon screen for Windows 7, but depending on the picture, you might want a darker or lighter shadow around the content.

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe).

  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUI.

  3. Create a new DWORD value named ButtonSet.

  4. Set the data to 0, 1 or 2. 0 is the darkest shadow (default) and 2 is the lightest. Click OK.

The change takes effect immediately.
