Q. How can I add a package to an offline-mounted Windows 7 image?

A. If you have a cabinet (.cab) file containing a package you want to add to an offline image, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) command and the /add-package switch. For example,

dism /image: /add-package /packagepath:

Likewise, you can remove an installed .cab file (but not a .msu) from an offline-mounted image by replacing /add-package with /remove-package.
