System Center Support for Windows 10
Microsoft has added additional support information for Windows 10 and System Center Configuration Manager.
September 30, 2014
The Windows 10 information launch event provided some, I say some, information around Enterprise capability coming in the new version of Windows. You can read about those HERE.
It was rumored, and then confirmed and emphasized, that the information launch would provide commentary and messaging for businesses. Most businesses, of course, felt a bit snugged by Windows 8, which was clearly designed as a consumer operating system. So, there was considerable interest in what Microsoft would announce during the event.
Clearly, one of the key pieces that businesses would want to hear about is how Windows 10 would fit into the existing IT model. But, instead of rolling out every morsel of information during the event, Microsoft has begun releasing business messaging across other platforms, such as its blogs.
Shortly after the event ended, the System Center Configuration Manager team released important information to clarify how the management product will work with Windows 10 when it releases.
Here's what was said:
The next version of System Center Configuration Manager will deliver full support for client deployment, upgrade, and management of Windows 10 and associated updates.
System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager or SP1 - we will provide an update to support Windows 10 deployment, upgrade and management with existing ConfigMgr features.
System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (SP2, R2, and R3) – we will provide an update to support the management only of Windows 10
Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) will be updated with support for Windows 10.
Intune will provide the leading mobile-first, cloud-first management capabilities for Windows 10.
