Missing Security Bulletins Explained for WSUS and ConfigMgr Users

Over on the popular Configuration Manager support email list, an email thread has blossomed into a full on discussion concerning a couple missing security bulletins this month. Specifically, MS15-049 and MS15-051 seem to be missing from the list of applicable updates, while MS15-044 shows up instead.

Microsoft has caught wind of the confusion and given an explanation. In a blog post today, Meghan Stewart, Support Escalation Engineer at Microsoft, is giving the reasons behind the mismatched update list.

Meghan says that, due to overlap in the updates, Microsoft blended them together into a single MS15-044, and that you should just deploy it. She says…

So what’s the bottom line for all this? Deploy all of MS15-044 to be compliant for MS15-049 & MS15-051.
