VMware and Microsoft Lead the Pack in the Latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Virtualization

Gartner has released their updated report on x86 Server Virtualization Infrastructure. If you're familiar with past reports, this report shows that while VMware still leads the market, Microsoft is still closing the gap.

Oracle, with its releases in 2012, has now entered the Challengers area, and Citrix, once a leader, has now dipped into the Visionaries category.

Gartner states that about two-thirds of server workloads are now virtualized and the market has finally matured enough so that customers have options. Large organizations, heavily virtualized, will be able to take advantage of hybrid solutions that interoperate directly between on-premise and a hosted environment. Gartner says this area (the hybrid Cloud) will see the most significant growth.
