Why Available Capacity is 0 for SCVMM Managed Storage Arrays

Q: Why does available capacity for storage arrays managed by Virtual Machine Manager 2012 show as 0, even though there's usable space and VMM is even creating new virtual machines on the LUNs?

A: The available space value is returned from the provider used by System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) to communicate with the storage. Not all providers report the capacity consumed property, which means SCVMM will show a value of 0. This should improve over time as more providers report the capacity consumed with new updates, but basically don't panic if it shows available space as zero!
