External Storage Enclosure Storage Space Support

Q: What external storage enclosures can be used with a clustered Storage Space?

A: Sometimes you might have two nodes at a location that you want to cluster, but you have no SAN or NAS available. So instead you just want to connect both nodes to an external storage enclosure, then use a clustered Storage Space to enabled shared storage for the new cluster. Obviously the storage enclosure is a single point of failure;however, for some environments this is an acceptable scenario.

Although there are many storage enclosures that work with clustered Storage Spaces, Microsoft does have some certified enclosures for Windows Server 2012. They are documented at the Windows Server Catalog.
