Satya Nadella on Bringing a Data Culture to Every Organization, Individual

Today, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella shared his insights into the company's data strategy and how it plans to deliver a platform that aligns with the company's world view of "ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence," at a customer event that focused on the release of SQL Server 2014.

Emphasizing the importance of data, Nadella stated that big data isn't only important to database and IT professionals, but it's equally important to get analytical tools in the hands of the everyday user as well.

"We believe that with the right tools, insights can come from anyone, anywhere, at any time. When that happens, organizations develop what we describe as a 'data culture,'" Nadella said.

To put the notion of a data culture into full perspective, Microsoft hopes to have its tools in the hands of every organization, every team, and every individual, so that each subset is empowered to make relevant business decisions. And in order to achieve this ambitious goal, SQL Server, business intelligence (BI), machine learning, Bing, and Azure each have their own very important role to play, as Microsoft showcased several demos that showed how its services were growing faster and more powerful.
