With Microsoft Corporation winning huge mindshare over the past few years,you might have assumed that the company was the world leader in softwaresales. Well, this was never actually the case, at least not until now: According to analysts at CIBC Oppenheimer Corp., Microsoft finally surpassed previous leader International Business Machines (IBM) in the previous quarter to become the worldwide leader in revenue due to softwaresales. For fiscal 1998, Microsoft Corporation reported $14.48 billion in sales, while IBM recorded an estimated $13 billion
