When you download and attempt to install Internet Explorer 6 SP1 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1e1550cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&displaylang=en, you receive:

The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. (Tell me why this testing is important.)

This software will not be installed. Contact your system administrator.

This problem will occur if MS03-023: Buffer Overrun in the HTML Converter Could Allow Code Execution is installed on your computer.

To resolve this behavior:

1. Close all open Windows.

2. Open the Add or Remove Programs applet in Control Panel.

3. Select Windows XP Hotfix - KB823559 and press Remove.

4. When the hotfix is removed, restart your computer.

5. download and install Internet Explorer SP1.

6. After Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 is installed, restart your computer.

7. Install the MS03-023: Buffer Overrun in the HTML Converter Could Allow Code Execution hotfix.
