Aivosto, a producer of software development tools, has released Project Analyzer v10, the latest version of a utility that detects errors in Visual Basic (VB) applications. Project Analyzer v10 supports VB versions 3.0 to 6.0, Visual Basic .NET, ASP.NET versions 2002 to 2010, and Office VBA.

Project Analyzer v10 reveals 265 types of coding problems in VB apps. For example, it finds loops that don't loop, conditionals that execute unconditionally, unreachable lines that don't execute, parameter values being accidentally overwritten, and other questionable items in VB code. In addition to locating existing errors, Project Analyzer suggests design improvements that help to avoid new errors—for example, it shows which subroutines to rewrite as functions or which formal parameters to remove. Project Analyzer v10 also reverse-engineers VB code and provides automated diagrams, reports and printouts that show how a program works and interactive code views.

Project Analyzer v10 is priced at $299 to $990. You can download a free demo of the product as well as use Aivosto's free code-analysis service at www.aivosto.com/project/project.html.
