Layer 7 Technologies announced four new SecureSpan XMLappliances: SecureSpan XML Accelerator, SecureSpan XML Data Screen, SecureSpanXML Firewall and VPN, and SecureSpan XML Networking Gateway. Layer 7 Technologiesoffers a suite of XML appliances and gateway software for Service OrientedArchitectures (SOA) and Web Oriented Architectures (WOA), including SOAP, POX, AJAX,and REST. The new XML acceleration, security, and networkingappliances address a progressive set of security, complexity, scalability, andnetworking issues.

 The use of XMLdata in the enterprise is increasing exponentially. SOA deployments often useXML or Web services but Web applications built on AJAX, RSS, and POX are oftenmore ubiquitous, adding to the pervasive use of XML. Depending on theapplication, various combinations of XML processing may be required, includingparsing, transformation, acceleration, security, cryptography, signing,federation, and support for implementing specific SOA standards orspecifications. These operations place a tremendous burden on the networkinfrastructure, middleware, and application platforms. The strategic use of XMLappliances simplifies the deployment and management of applications whileensuring tight control over the flow of data.

 All SecureSpan XMLappliances are based on a 64-bit multi-processor, multi-core AMD architecturewith onboard XML acceleration from ASIC vendor Tarari, and hardware-basedcrypto acceleration. All SecureSpan appliances offer full clustered redundancyand linear scalability.
