Emurasoft announced the release of EmEditor ProfessionalVersion 8, a full-featured text editor for Windows Vista/XP/2000/Server2008/Server 2003. A lightweight, extensible, and customizable text editor,EmEditor Professional is easy to use and supports Unicode and powerful macros.

 EmEditor startswith a basic core feature set. From there you can customize the text editor.You only add the features you desire, available as plug-ins. The resulting texteditor is tailored to each user s needs, and doesn t contain any unwantedfeatures. The latest version of EmEditor incorporates various user requests, andintroduces some new features and improves others.

 Some of the newfeatures available include the Large File Controller, Vertical SelectionEditing, Binary Editing, and Grab Text. Previous versions of EmEditor openfiles up to 248GB. The Large File Controller enables and optimizes the openingof files larger than 248GB by opening only a portion of the file. You can specifythe begin point, end point, and range of the file to be opened. You can stopthe opening process and monitor the real size of the file and temporary diskavailable. Vertical Selection Editing allows you to replace similar linesquickly without using regular expressions. Vertical Selection Editing selectsand replaces or inserts text in column format. Binary Editing (ASCII andHexadecimal View), under available encodings, allows binary file editing.Double-clicking on the current encoding status bar at the bottom of the screenallows you to change the view. The Grab Text feature allows you to grab textfrom any Windows standard edit controls, Internet Explorer text input fields,or password fields. You then can edit this text and place it back into thefields.

 There also aremany improved features in this release, such as the Projects Plug-in. TheProjects Plug-in now includes solution templates, the toolbar, and theparameter information tooltip, among other options. This plug-in also allowsyou to open Visual Studio solution files as read-only. The newly optimizedReplace All feature now shows a status message box, which allows you to cancelthe Undo information and execute the replacement.

 EmEditorautomatically includes some basic plug-ins, such as Search, Snippits, WebPreview, Word Complete, and Word Count. Also, EmEditor allows you to createpowerful macros that can do anything you want within EmEditor. And, as aUnicode application, EmEditor supports Unicode, even outside of the BasicMultilingual Plane (BMP).
