AltovaXML Offered at No Cost

Altova announced AltovaXML, an XML-standards processorthat includes XSLT 1.0, XSLT 2.0, XQuery, and XML validation engines. Developerscan download AltovaXML from the Altova Web site at no cost and use it withintheir own custom applications royalty free.

 XML-basedapplications often require an XSLT engine for performing transformations, anXQuery engine for executing queries, and/or an XML validating parser forwell-formedness checking and validation. AltovaXML provides developers with anXSLT 1.0 engine, XSLT 2.0 engine, XQuery 1.0 engine, and XML validating parser,together with .NET, COM, and Java interfaces so it can be used from a varietyof applications. Developers can also call its functionality from the commandline. AltovaXML supports schema-awareness in XSLT 2.0, and all of its functionsare performed in a standards-based manner in conformance with the latest WorldWide Web Consortium (W3C) specifications.

 AltovaXML issuitable for use in both client- and server-side application development.Some examples that may require AltovaXML include: XML-based single-source ormulti-channel publishing applications that require content entered by users tobe checked for validity according to a specific schema and transformed intoHTML or other formats through XSLT processing; data integration applicationsthat transform existing XML documents into a format consistent with a newschema via XSLT or XQuery processing; and Web services applications that searchfor and retrieve data from XML documents via XQuery processing, then presentthe results in valid XHTML Web pages by transforming them using schema-awareXSLT 2.0 processing.
