Gurock Releases SmartInspect 3.2

Gurock Software announced a new version of its .NET, Java, and Delphi logging tool, SmartInspect 3.2 (www.gurock.com/products/smartinspect/). This new version includes dozens of new features, improvements, and bug fixes and can be downloaded from Gurock's website.

SmartInspect 3.2 now supports automatic replacing of variables in connection strings, designed to allow developers to modify and adapt log file paths for target systems more easily. With the new options to specify custom timestamp patterns and field widths, developers now have more control about how text log files are formatted.

Other new features and improvements include the ability to run the viewer application from USB drives, specify the pipe name via command-line parameters, and log exception stack traces. The introduction of a new string pool mechanism and various other techniques to optimize the viewer application makes it possible to open and analyze even larger log files without splitting them. The viewer application also has been upgraded to make use of the latest development tools and third-party components, integrating better with Windows Vista and preparing for Windows 7.

SmartInspect is available for .NET, Java, and Delphi, and comes with unified high-performance and reliable logging libraries for all three platforms. The included viewer application makes it easy to analyze log files and monitor applications in real time. SmartInspect helps developers, testers, and support teams identify bugs, find solutions to user-reported issues, and show how software performs in different environments. A 30-day fully-functional trial version is available for download.
