JSI Tip 8805. You receive 'HTTP 500 - Internal server error' when you configure IIS virtual roots in Windows XP SP2?

The heightened security in Windows XP Service Pack 2 causes this error.

To workaround this problem:

1. Open Component Services from Control Panel / Administrative Tools, or Start / Run / control admintools / OK.

2. Expand Component Services / Computers / My Computer / COM+ Applications.

3. Right-click your COM+ package and press Properties.

4. Select the Identity tab.

5. In This user: under This application will run under the following account, type into the User, Password and Confirm Password fields.

6. Press OK.
