Q: If I use the Advanced Group Policy Management console, can I still directly edit Group Policy Objects outside of AGPM?
It's possible to edit GPOs from outside of the Advanced Group Policy Management console.

A: Yes. The Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM) console doesn't block your ability to edit Group Policy Objects (GPOs) outside of AGPM, providing you have the right permissions, However, for the best experience, all management should be performed through AGPM. If a GPO is edited from outside of AGPM, it's still possible to compare the GPO that is deployed from that managed in AGPM, see the differences, and replace with the version in AGPM, if necessary. To learn more about AGPM, see Russell Smith's article "Advanced Group Policy Management Extends Group Policy Management Console" and my FAQ "Q. Can I use the Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM) console that's part of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack to compare Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in different domains?"
