How can I lock and unlock the Windows XP taskbar?

A. You can lock the taskbar in XP by right-clicking the taskbar and selecting Lock the Taskbar. You can also edit the registry to lock the taskbar by performing the following steps:

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe).

  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced.

  3. Double-click TaskbarSizeMove.

  4. Set the TaskbarSizeMove value to 0 to lock the taskbar or to 1 to unlock the taskbar, then click OK.

  5. Close the registry editor.
