Windows Server 2012 Support in Ops Mgr 2007

Q: What does it mean that System Center Operations Manager 2007 has limited support for Windows Server 2012?

A: For the most complete monitoring of Windows Server 2012, it's necessary to use System Center 2012 Operations Manager SP. However, there is still some monitoring capability from Operations Manager 2007.

This support is commonly termed "limited." What this means for Operations Manager 2007 monitoring Windows Server 2012 is the following:

  • Not all role and feature Management Packs are supported--only the base OS Management Pack.

  • Even though Operations Manager 2007 is implemented as the server infrastructure, you must deploy the Operations Manager 2012 agent to the Windows 2012 servers.
