How to Update Operations Manager Management Packs

Q: How can I easily update all Management Packs in my Operations Manager instance with updated versions from the Catalog?

A. To update installed Management Packs for Operations Manager, perform the following:

  1. Start the Operations Manager console.

  2. Open the Administration workspace.

  3. Select the Management Packs navigation node.

  4. Click the Import Management Packs... action.

  5. Click the Add button and select Add from Catalog.

  6. In the View drop-down menu, select Updates available for installed management packs and click Search.

  7. Select the Management Packs you want to update from the results, and click Add.

  8. Once added, click OK.

  9. A check will be performed,  then click Install.

  10. The MPs will be imported; after it's completed, click Close.

The updated Management Packs will be downloaded to the Operations Manager agents within 3-10 minutes (the config service in Operations Manager performs a config update which then notifies the agents of a new config and the agents then pull it down). You can see this in the event logs of the agents:
