C I Host Responds to Chicago Intrusion update from November 2007
C I Host responds to reports of a robbery at its Chicago colocation center.

The robbers who broke into a C I Host data center in Chicago and stole $15,000 worth of servers "knew what they were doing," according to the company. C I Host chief corporate counsel James Eckels told the Web Host Industry Review that the thieves were likely familiar with the building layout, the company's operations and the technology involved.
Eckels said C I Host has offered to replace servers and asked customers to keep receipts for replacement servers for possible future reimbursement.
"Bottom line is, no-one likes to hear what we have to say," says Eckels. "We can offer services or discounts, but people want money. They want compensation. But we don't have money to give them. We're just as victimized as our customers."
Eckels said C I Host "recognizes there is a flaw in its security system," but also faulted building security. The C I Host data center was on the third floor of the building. Eckels also took issue with accounts that there had been four robberies at the Chicago center, saying only two of the incidents were actual robberies. Read the full story at The WHIR.
