Q. How can I disable DNS registration for hosts from the command line?

A. By default, hosts will try and register their host names in the zone that matches the default suffix for the network adapter or computer configuration. You can disable this through the registry by setting HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesTcpipParametersInterfaces\{\}RegistrationEnabled to 0 instead of the default value of 1. You can also use netsh, but you'll have to reconfigure the DNS server settings as well:
