Q: Is there a way to replicate data from my NetApp SAN to the public cloud?

A: NetApp's Cloud ONTAP solution is a software appliance that can be run in public cloud solutions (currently Amazon Web Services, but expected to expand to others). It allows data to replicate from on-premises NetApp to a virtual appliance. For more information about the virtual appliance, see "NetApp Cloud ONTAP."

A third-party solution from PEER is also available that enables synchronization between Windows and NetApp systems. For more information, see "PeerSync for Servers."

Obviously, you can also get data from a SAN to Azure using regular application replication, such as Hyper-V Replica, SQL Server AlwaysOn, Exchange database availability groups (DAGs), Distributed File System Replication (DFSR), and so on. However, these solutions don't use SAN replication.
