When Word 97 debuted earlier this year, everyone assumed that the "Save asWord 6.0/95" option did just that. Not so: it really saved files in RichText Format (RTF). Due to customer complaints, Microsoft has released apatch for Word 97 that corrects this oversight.

Using this patch, Word 97 users can now save documents in true Word 6.0/95file format, making it easy to share documents with users of previous versions of Word. You can download the patch (638K) now from the Nexus.

For whatever it's worth, I wasn't able to get it to even install on mysystem, so I can't even verify that it works
