Back in December, Netscape released the first preview of Communicator 4.0for Windows 95 and NT, and it seemed that the product would gel quickly.Today, Netscape officials admitted that that isn't the case: the release ofCommunicator 4.0 has slipped into the second quarter and the next previewrelease has slipped to February. Communicator is expected to have threepreview releases before the final version ships. Netscape Navigator 3.0, for example, had six preview releases. Netscape will not sell the Navigatorcomponent of Communicator separately: if you want the browser, you'll haveto get the whole package.

In other news, Constellation, Netscape's attempt at a Windows desktopreplacement, will be in beta by the second quarter with a release expectedaround mid-year. This is the first word of a release cycle for the Constellation project
