Microsoft Corporation purchased Flash Communications on Monday so that itcould use Flash instant messaging technology in the next version of Exchange Server. Microsoft will also integrate Flash technology into itsChat and NetMeeting software.

"By incorporating the Flash Communications technology into the real-time offerings found in Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft is able to offer corporate customers a complete real-time communication environment, allowing them to determine the online status of co-workers, customers, andother fellow collaborators; send immediate notification of important events; conduct online meetings; and host Internet chat sessions," Microsoft said in a statement.
