Microsoft released the first beta of its Service Pack 4 for Windows NTWorkstation and Server to a small group of testers this week. The servicepack, which is due this summer, includes all of the bug fixes andenhancements from past service packs, as well as all of the post-SP3hot-fixes and a new security tool. Additionally, the service pack includesfixes for the Windows NT Option Pack.

A Security Configuration Editor, which will also be included in Windows NT5.0, allows NT administrators to easily apply security settings to aserver and other machines on the network
