Microsoft Corporation has updated its 5.0 and 4.0 versions of InternetExplorer with new releases aimed at fixing bugs. First on the list isInternet Explorer 5.0, which has been updated to version 5.0a. IE 5.0a,which will also be included with Office 2000, primarily addresses Office2000 integration problems. The new version number is 5.00.2314.1003 andcurrently there isn't any way to download an upgrade; rather you mustcurrently download the entire set of files again. If you're running IE 5.0,this isn't a huge issue as any upgrades to Office 2000 will automaticallyinstall the new files. But anyone who downloads IE 5.0 from now on will getthe 5.0a version.

Meanwhile, Internet Explorer 4.0 has been upgraded to Service Pack 2 (SP2).One can assume that this release includes recent security and bug fixes butI haven't seen any other information about it anywhere yet. If you'reinterested in downloading the latest version of IE 4.0, please visit theMicrosoft Web site.

Thanks to Michael Tsang and Allen Harkleroad for tipping me off to these newreleases
