According to a report in The Washington Times, Microsoft's Redmond, Washington, campus is a potential terrorism target. The paper reported this weekend that US intelligence officials have determined that al Qaeda terrorists have picked US economic targets for a potential round of future attacks. This plan apparently involves several Seattle-area locations, including Microsoft's sprawling Redmond headquarters, as well as Boeing, the US Navy's Bangor submarine base, and the Space Needle.
Microsoft's Redmond campus is comprised of almost 50 buildings with a combined 5.3 million square feet of office space; about half of the company's nearly 50,000 employees work there. And although The Washington Times report doesn't include any specifics about the type of attack that terrorist might carry out against the location, the attack would clearly be "economic warfare," according to one source. US military operations inside Afghanistan uncovered the information about the targets.
