Microsoft released a set of seven specifications yesterday that will determine compliance with the OnNow technology. The goal of OnNow is toimplement power management for all desktops and laptops so that the computers are never actually shut off but rather "put to sleep" so thatboot-up time is cut dramatically. OnNow is a primary component of the PC98specification, now being worked on by Microsoft and its partners
