As expected, Microsoft announced the new color version of its Windows CEoperating system for Palm-sized PCs on Monday. The new OS, which was code-named "Wyvern," will be added to new devices from a variety ofmanufacturers, including Casio, Compaq, Philips, Everex, and others.

"Microsoft focused on improving the readability and therefore usefulness ofthese small-screen devices with the latest release of the Palm-size PC software," said Harel Kodesh, VP of Microsoft's information appliance group. "One part of this is color, which is a natural evolution. As timelyaccess to information becomes more and more important, you will continue tosee Windows CE innovate and enable solutions that make this possible."
